David Corlew has resigned from his position as president of the Academy of Country Music board of directors just a few months shy of the October expiration of his term. He has also resigned from the board.

Corlew, who is president/CEO of Blue Hat Records and publishing company Corlew Music Group and manager of the Charlie Daniels Band, tells Billboard.biz, "I felt like I would not be able to have the time to put forth that the Academy deserves."

He has served two terms as ACM president and one as VP.
