The resurgent Canadian music scene will take the spotlight during the five-day City Showcase festival of events in Central London from Sept. 5-9.

The resurgent Canadian music scene will take the spotlight during the five-day City Showcase festival of events in Central London from Sept. 5-9.

Canadian acts Joel Plaskett, Mad Violet and Leeroy Stagger will perform at a free evening gig at the 100 Club on Sept. 7 under the "Focus Canada" banner.

Earlier that day, a Focus Canada industry workshop will be held at the London College of Fashion. BMI senior executive Brandon Bakshi and Billboard Information Group's London bureau chief Emmanuel Legrand will participate in a panel on the Canadian music business.

U.K. trade group the Assn. of Independent Music, the Canadian High Commission and Drowned In Sound will host a reception during the event.

City Showcase is a not-for-profit organization which was launched in 2003 to offer a platform for emerging creative talent.
