Former chair Ritto to devote time to MBO.
Jens-Otto Paludan has been elected chairman of IFPI Denmark. The 42-year-old managing director of Universal Music Denmark replaces Michael Ritto, co-CEO of music group MBO, who will continue as a member of the trade body's board.
"It's a great task and an important one," says Paludan. "We've seen structural changes in the media and entertainment... so IFPI's role can be used in many capacities, to maintain existing sources of revenue and seek new ones."
Paludan has been at the helm of Universal's Danish affiliate for the past 11 years and was responsible for the successes of acts such as Aqua and Safri Duo.
In his new position, Paludan hopes to broaden the music industry knowledge base for members and the public. "It won't be a revolution, we have a good set-up with Jesper Bay as marketing director and Michael Ritto has done a lot of good work which will continue," Paludan notes.
Ritto left the post to spend more time running MBO, the multi-faceted music group he co-founded with Benny Bach just over a year ago. Both men are former EMI executives.
