The Arcade Fire tops the list of nominees for the second annual mtvU Woodie Awards, which honor artists favored by college audiences. The event will be held Nov. 2 at New York's Roseland Ballroom, and broadcast on mtvU and the channel's Webs site on Nov. 10.

Among nearly 40 nominees for awards such as "Left Field Woodie" (most original artist) and "Alumni Woodie" (the You're Still O.K. in Our Book award) are Gorillaz, Death Cab For Cutie, Common, M.I.A. and My Chemical Romance. The Arcade Fire's five nominations include artist of the year, best tour and best animated video.

Winners will be determined by votes cast online or collected through the network's mobile voting vehicles traveling to colleges. Users can stream nominee videos and interviews through the mtvU.com.

Modest Mouse and Coheed & Cambria were last year's big winners, with the former taking home best artist and best music video, and the latter receiving best live performance and best album honors.
