Coldplay and Natasha Bedingfield are among those to have clinched the most nominations for this year's BT Digital Music Awards (DMA), the country's only award ceremony dedicated to digital music entertainment and related Web sites.
Scheduled to take place at Hammersmith Palais, London, on Oct. 18, the DMA will also air on the national TV network Channel 4 and its sister digital channel E4.
Coldplay (Parlophone) boasts five nominations in the Best Rock Artist, Best Single, Best Digital Campaign, Best Use of Mobile, and Best Digital Music Community categories.
Another Parlophone act, Gorillaz, is being considered for the Best Dance Artist, Best Single, and Best Digital Campaign.
Natasha Bedingfield (Phonogenic/Sony BMG) is among the acts named in the Best Pop Artist, Best Event or Performance, and the Best Use of Mobile categories.
Bedingfield will be competing with Stereophonics (V2) for Best Event or Performance. Stereophonics has also been nominated for Best Rock Act, Best Single, and Best Digital Promotion.
The event is being sponsored by computer-chip maker Intel, cellphone handset manufacturer Motorola, digital music services Yahoo! Music and iTunes Music Store, which has also been nominated for Best Digital Music Store.
The event is being supported by the U.K. music industry trade group BPI, the Official U.K. Charts Company, collecting society Phonographic Performance Ltd, and the Mobile Entertainment Forum.
