Box set free with TV, home theater purchase.
The Who's three-disc DVD box set, "Tommy and Quadrophenia-Live in Concert" (Rhino Entertainment), will be given away free prior to its Nov. 15 retail release to consumers who purchase select Samsung TV and home theater products.
The free set features the 1989 live performance of their rock opera "Tommy," with special guests Elton John, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Patti LaBelle and Steve Winwood, which took place at the Universal Amphitheatre (now the Gibson Amphitheatre) in Los Angeles. The band's second long-form rock opus "Quadrophenia," from their 1996-1997 U.S. tour is also included, along with extras like new interviews with Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.
Consumers who purchase the Samsung products can receive the DVD set by mail. Samsung will help promote the offer through an online campaign, and plans to launch a contest offering memorabilia signed by the Who.
The DVD set will be available for purchase for a stand-alone price of $34.98 when it reaches stores.
