Memory cards to contain music, video, ringtones.
EMI Music Latin America has teamed with mobile phone maker Nokia to put free music on memory cards bundled with Nokia's 6230 handset.
Music from such EMI artists as Coldplay and KT Tunstall, as well as from regional artists from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile will participate in the "This Music Collection" offer.
Each 128 MB card will contain four full tracks "two from international artists and two local" as well as four ringtones, four wallpaper images, a live video performance of KT Tunstall's "Other Side of the World," a interview with Coldplay featuring the single "Fix You" and additional video clips from local artists.
All can be accessed from the Nokia 6230 phone which also will ship with a booklet providing details on each artist and coupons for discounted CDs.
The campaign is the latest in a string of EMI efforts to release music on removable media. The label most recently included the Rolling Stones' new release "A Bigger Bang" and other catalog albums on SanDisk's new gruvi memory card. Last year, it released a greatest hits music and video collection from Robbie Williams on the memory card format as well.
