Argentine producer Afo Verde to take reins.

Argentine producer Afo Verde has been appointed president of Sony BMG Sur, which comprises Argentina and Chile. The announcement was made by Frank J. Welzer, chairman/CEO of Sony BMG's Latin region, and Kevin Lawrie, president of Sony BMG Norte. Verde replaces Roberto Piay, who stepped down to pursue other interests.

Verde is best known as a producer and songwriter who has worked with major Argentine stars like Diego Torres and Vicentico. He is a nominee for producer of the year for the 2005 Latin Grammy awards taking place Nov. 3.

Verde will continue his artistic work in addition to his administrative duties at Sony BMG Sur. He will based out of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
