MTV Australia will host its second Video Music Awards on April 12 at the Sydney SuperDome. The show will be broadcast live on the Foxtel, Austar and Optus pay-TV platforms, and on the Austereo radio network.

The inaugural gala, held in March at Luna Park in Sydney, drew more than 1.9 million viewers nationally, according to Nigel Robbins, Sydney based managing director of MTV Networks Australia.

The 2005 gala was hosted by the Osbournes, and featured live performances from Green Day, Ja Rule and Simple Plan, as well as Aussie acts the Dissociatives, Missy Higgins and Eskimo Joe. Details of the 2006 event will be unveiled in the coming months.
