Swedish alternative rock act Kent was named best Nordic act Saturday (Oct. 29) night at the second annual Nordic Music Awards, held at the 6,000-capacity Copenhagen Forum.

Eminem and Gwen Stefani won NMAs for best international male and female vocalists, respectively. Coldplay took the prize for best international band.

Honors for best Danish act went to Nik & Jay. Daniel Lindstrøm was named best Swedish act, while Madrugada won the Norwegian category.

Robbie Williams, the Cardigans, Shakira, and Coldplay were among the international performers on the night.

Nominations for each of the nine categories were based on sales figures submitted by the Swedish, Danish and Norwegian branches of IFPI. Winners were chosen by popular vote.

The event was televised live on TV2 (Denmark), TV2 (Norway), Kanal 5 (Sweden), Screen 1 (Iceland) and Voice TV (Finland).

NMA was arranged by Norwegian companies Monster, a TV-production firm, and media-concept organization AIR Productions.
