Attorney Succeeds Tyler for East Coast.

ASCAP has named as its East Coast ombudsman intellectual property attorney Morton David Goldberg with Cowan, Liebowitz & Latman in New York.

Goldberg was selected to succeed the late former judge Harold R. Tyler Jr. who passed away last May. Seth Hufstedler with Morrison & Foerster in Los Angeles serves as the ASCAP West Coast ombudsman.

The ombudsmen periodically examine the design and conduct of ASCAP's survey of performances, are available for consultation with members, and provide independent advice to the board of directors on these matters.

Goldberg is known internationally for his expertise in copyright, trademark and related intellectual property counseling, negotiation, litigation and legislation. He has served as counsel in countless intellectual property cases, written extensively on these issues, served at World Intellectual Property Organization meetings in a variety of roles, and is a past chair of the American Bar Assn.'s section of intellectual property law. He is also a past president of the Copyright Society of the USA.

"The ASCAP board and ASCAP members are fortunate to have an ombudsman of Mr. Goldberg's caliber," says ASCAP chairman/president Marilyn Bergman.
