SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- AtomShockwave Corp., a provider of Internet-based films and games, said it has acquired AddictingGames.com, boosting the company into a more powerful position in the growing arena of online gaming.

Privately held AtomShockwave, based in San Francisco, did not disclose the financial terms of the deal, which was to be announced Nov. 2. AtomShockwave's chief executive Mika Salmi said the purchase will give the company a monthly audience of more than 30 million consumers, and push it up from being the seventh largest to the third largest worldwide online gaming destination, behind Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp.'s MSN.
