Indie distributor will switch to format next year.

Independent home video distributor Egami Media, a subsidiary of Image Entertainment, will be offering its content on the DivX digital format next year.

DivX, a format that compresses video for secure distribution over IP networks, can be played back on DivX certified DVD players.

The Egami catalog of more than 1,300 programs, which includes live concerts, stand-up comedy, IMAX titles and independent films, will be available through divx.com. Some programs will be available in high definition.

Each title will play with DVD functionality, and will feature interactive menus.

An official launch date for the material has not yet been set.
