Subroto Chattopadhyay will become managing director of Kolkata-based Saregama, India's oldest record label, with effect from April.

Chattopadhyay, who until the end of September was executive director of New Delhi-based Pepsico India's food products division, replaces Dilip Mehta, who has retired.

Besides overseeing Saregama's activities, Chattopadhyay, who will be based in Mumbai, will also be responsible for Saregama parent RPG Group's other entertainment businesses. Those include retail chain Music World, Saregama Films and online music portal HamaraCD.com, which allows users to order custom CDs from Saregama's repertoire of more than 25,000 tracks.
