EMI Music Spain has separated the A&R, marketing and promotion activities of its local Capitol and Virgin labels.

Under the realigned label structure, María Cruz Laguna has been appointed director of Capitol Spain and Javier Liñan is director, Virgin Spain. They both report to EMI Music Spain general manager Simone Bosé with immediate effect.

"EMI Music Spain president Manolo Díaz and I decided to recreate the separate structure that had existed from the late 90s until Virgin and Capitol were brought under the same roof in all senses," says Bosé. Both labels remain in the same central Madrid building but will operate separately, he adds. "The idea is for the company to grow and aggressively develop new artists both nationally and internationally."

The labels' A&R, international and local marketing, and promotion functions now report directly to the Virgin and Capitol directors.

Laguna joined Virgin five years ago and was local marketing director before her new appointment. Liñan joined Virgin seven years ago and had been Virgin A&R director.

Virgin Spain's roster includes Latin Grammy winner Bebe and nominees Amaral, while Capitol Spain's artist include Enrique Bunbury and El Arrebato.
