Gala held at Metropolitan Pavilion April 7.

For the first time in its 13 year history, BMI will take its Latin awards to New York City. BMI will honor the songwriters, composers and music publishers of the most-played Latin songs on U.S. radio and television at a dinner and ceremony April 7 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Manhattan.

Special awards will be given to the Latin song of the year, songwriter of the year and publisher of the year. In addition, the BMI icon award, still to be announced, will be given out for "unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers."

Last year's BMI icon honoree was Carlos Santana, who received his award in BMI's ceremony in Las Vegas.
