Leading German mobile entertainment firm Jamba is planning to launch its own music download business in the first quarter of 2006. Sources say the service will go live at the end of March, with downloads priced between €0.99 ($1.17) and €1.49 ($1.76).

Jamba is currently under new management, following the departure of founders Marc and Oliver Samwer.

As previously reported, deputy managing director Berger-de Leon and finance director Dirk Hoffmann have stepped up into the managing director roles.

Berlin-based Jamba is recognized as the European firm that made the sale of ringtones a mainstream business, in part through mass-market TV advertising campaigns. The firm was also behind novelty act Crazy Frog, the first ringtone-based hit.
