Kevin Carton has joined EMI Group as a non-executive director, with effect from Feb. 1.

Carton was formerly global leader of PricewaterhouseCoopers' entertainment and media practice, where he advised media and entertainment firms on business strategies. He retired from the corporate accountancy giant in 2004 after 38 years' service.

Speaking on the appointment, EMI Group chairman Eric Nicoli today (Jan. 23) said Carton's "experience will be of immense benefit to the company as we move forward." Nicoli add, "He has been at the heart of the global media and entertainment industry for many years and his understanding and strategic perspective of the issues facing the sector will be invaluable to us."

Carton also serves on the boards of executive recruitment firm Russell Reynolds Associates, technology infrastructure company BrainShield Technologies and New York City social service and youth development agency Good Shepherd Services.

It is anticipated that Carton will become chairman of EMI's audit committee, succeeding Kathleen O'Donovan who completes her third three-year term as a non-executive director of EMI in November. With Carton's appointment, EMI's board counts 10 members, comprising six non-executive and four executive directors.
