Secure Digital Container has clinched a deal to provide the digital rights management solution for French mobile telephone operator SFR's new subscription-based music download service.
Billboard.biz recently tipped SFR's imminent launch of an unlimited music download subscription service for mobile users.
SDC, the Basel, Switzerland-based provider of technology for mobile music DRM, revealed at Midem this week that it has partnered with Musiwave to deliver the complete DRM package for SFR, which covers monthly subscription and purchase/rental license models.
Musiwave, a Paris-based international mobile-music service provider, is powering the service.
SFR -- which is jointly owned by Vivendi Universal and Vodafone -- has openly vowed to place music at the core of its strategy. It rolled out its first music download service in November 2004 in France.
