Rental giant Blockbuster today (Feb. 8) laid out plans to eliminate 300 jobs at its corporate headquarters in Dallas and McKinney, Texas.

The lay-offs will start with 200 cuts in the next two weeks. An additional 100 positions were vacant and will not be filled.

Blockbuster is also considering selling some of the other chains it owns and operates, such as Movie Trading Co., a 40-store chain in Texas.

The moves are part of Blockbuster’s efforts to reduce expenditures. It has lost a huge source of revenue since introducing the “No Late Fees” policy last year.
