The United Kingdom's National Arenas Assn. has elected Geoff Huckstep as chairman. Huckstep is currently CEO of the National Ice Centre and Nottingham Arena.

At the trade body, he succeeds Wembley Arena GM Peter Tudor, who has reached the end of his three-year tenure as chairman. Tudor remains on the steering group of the NAA.

Speaking on his appointment, Huckstep says, "I am looking forward to working with the members of the association and with the promoters to deliver the best possible service to the ticket-buying public at a time when attending live events has never been so popular."

Phil Mead, deputy director of events and exhibitions at Glasgow's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre, is deputy chairman of the NAA.

The NAA represents 14 U.K. venues with a combined capacity of 140,000 seats. Its members sold more than 6 million in 2004.

The trade body will publish its 2005 statistics at the International Live Music Conference on March 11.
