Media giant Bell Canada today (March 2) acquired a majority interest in the Canadian digital music service provider Puretracks for an undisclosed sum.

Launched in 2003, Toronto-based Puretracks is licensed to provide over 1 million songs from major and independent labels on Windows Media devices to a
variety of corporate customers including Bell Canada.

Continuing to hold an undisclosed equity stake in Puretracks are Standard Broadcasting in Toronto, as well as Universal Music Canada, EMI Music Canada. and Sony BMG Music Canada.
