Universal Music Publishing Group has inked a long-term, exclusive deal to administer the publishing interests of former Sex Pistols band members Paul Cook and Steve Jones, and the estate of Sid Vicious.

The catalog, which is currently represented by Warner Chappell, will switch to UMPG for ex-North America representation from January 2008.

Through the deal, unveiled today (March 6), UMPG will represent such compositions as "Anarchy In The U.K.", "God Save the Queen", "Pretty Vacant", "Holidays In the Sun" and "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle."

The agreement includes representation for synchronization licensing for film, TV, advertising and other mediums. The company says it will aggressively promote the catalog for worldwide synchronization opportunities.

UMPG president of Europe/managing director U.K. Paul Connolly comments that "we're obviously very pleased to conclude this deal during the thirtieth anniversary of the band's first regular gigs and their first recordings. We're looking forward to the celebrations."

The Sex Pistols have been in the news of late following band members' well-publicized refusal to attend their March 13 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
