Also on the night, Patrick Majer was honored with the producer award for his work with the Labels/EMI-signed band.

Local pop rock act Tokio Hotel took out the national newcomer category, converting just one of their leading four nominations.

Coldplay won the group international rock/pop section, while Robbie Williams won the international rock/pop artist category. Madonna claimed the female international rock/pop artist award while her Warner Music labelmate James Blunt took home the newcomer international trophy.

Xavier Naidoo and Christina Stuermer won male and female artist national rock/pop categories, respectively.

As previously reported, Bob Geldof received a special prize for his charitable work and services to music.

The Live Aid and Live 8 founder rallied Germany's artists to find a unified voice against poverty. "When the representatives of industrialized nations meet next year at the G8 conference in Germany, it will be your turn," he said.

The event was organized by the German Phonographic Academy.
