Country star agreed to a one-off tribute project.

George Jones has signed with Nashville startup Category 5 Records for a one-off tribute project. His new single, "He Still Has Songs To Sing," is due from Category 5 July 1. It will be the leadoff track from a Jones tribute album, which will feature guest artists from a variety of genres singing Jones' songs.

The guest lineup has not yet been announced for the album, also titled "He Still Has Songs To Sing," which is due in September. Several of the guests will join Jones on the single, which was written by Category 5 VP/operations John Northrup. The tribute album, produced by Buddy Cannon, will be released in conjunction with a DVD about the making of the CD. Jones will be featured on just one track.

Jones remains signed to Bandit Records, an independent label he co-owns. That label is distributed by Welk Music Group.
