Director of marketing Jonathan Azu promoted to role.

CBS Radio has elevated director of marketing Jonathan Azu to the newly-created position of VP of strategic music partnerships. Continuing to report to marketing president David Goodman, Azu will develop integrated multi-media programs which link advertisers, labels and artists with the company’s music stations.

“Having Jonathan in this hyper-focused role will allow CBS Radio to further create customized vehicles for our clients incorporating our assets and some of the biggest names in the music industry,” Goodman said in a press release. “Consumers can expect a diverse range of on-air and online features as we continue to evolve the traditional listener experience.”

Director of marketing since 2004, Azu began his career at the company’s AC station KEZK St. Louis as marketing coordinator before being named promotions director. In 2001, Azu was promoted to Internet developer/Web developer for KEZK and adult top 40 sister KYKY. Two years later he moved to company headquarters in New York as marketing coordinator. He currently manages the marketing and sales of CBS Radio’s Street Date Delivered by AT&T blue room series.

CBS Radio predecessor Infinity Broadcasting launched the muti-platform Street Date initiative in September 2004. Intended to build a buzz on new releases from marquee artists, the series creates original radio programming while offering advertisers alternatives to the 60-second spot.
