Pioneer U.S.-Spanish search engine MusicStrands has recruited Atakan Cetinsoy, the former business intelligence manager of the iTunes Music Store, to its team. Cetinsoy joins as V.P. business products.

At Apple Computer, he created the customer intelligence processes for the computer giant's digital media distribution platform. He also launched iTunes' personalized music recommendations feature.

"After helping build the best music store in the world, it made great sense to continue my career with one of the most innovative start-ups in the digital and mobile music arena," Cetinsoy adds.

Cetinsoy is expected to play a pivotal role in assisting the wireless and wired businesses, device manufacturers and digital content retailers better integrate recommendation technologies into their offerings.

MusicStrands was formed one year ago in Barcelona, Spain, by Spaniard Fernando J. Martin at the city's Institute of Artificial Intelligence. Fernando has gathered a team of U.S. and Swiss scientists to develop a music recommendations technology based on artificial intelligence, which is now headquartered in Corvallis, Orlando. The team includes Derek Reisfield, ex-president of CBS New Media, and Andreas Weigend, ex-science director at Amazon.
