Wholesaler to distribute online store's product.

Super D music and video wholesaler has signed to distribute CD Baby titles on a worldwide basis to brick-and-mortar retail. According to a Super D press release, the Irvine, Calif.-based operation will act as exclusive distributor for the online store, which carries 160,000 titles, all on consignment from 128,000 independent artists.

The CD Baby database will be accessible through Super D database and merchants can place orders for artists carried by the online store with the wholesaler, which sells to 1,300 stores weekly.

“We've always wanted to offer a brick and mortar solution to our clients,” says CD Baby's VP of marketing and business relations, Alex Steininger, “because we feel many will do well in traditional record stores. But, we won't do a deal unless its right for the artists, and our deal with Super D opens many doors for the independent artists we represent.”
