Annual membership meeting set for April 20.
ASCAP kicks off its "I Create Music" expo with the performing rights organization's annual membership meeting Thursday (April 20) in Los Angeles.
The organization will present a special legislative panel at the meeting covering public policy issues that impact the rights of songwriters and composers. The panel, moderated by ASCAP president/chairman Marilyn Bergman, will feature Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.), Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Calif.) and Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Jon W. Dudas.
The meeting will also include reports covering the state of the music industry, legislation, ASCAP operations and membership accomplishments from Bergman, CEO John LoFrumento and executive VP/director of membership Todd Brabec.
The event will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, Hollywood Ballroom, Los Angeles.
