Pub giant handling Primary Wave's interest.
EMI Music Publishing will be handling worldwide administration of Primary Wave Music Publishing's recently acquired interest in the Kurt Cobain catalog. EMI has been the exclusive administrator of the Cobain's catalog since 1991 through prior agreements with Nirvana and Courtney Love.
Primary Wave was formed recently by Larry Mestel, former COO of Arista Records and Virgin Records, and by Gregg Hamerschlag, a licensing and branding entreprenuer, with financial backing from an investment bank and private hedge fund.
"Courtney and I are both very pleased and excited that, alongside our brilliant new partners Larry Mestel and Primary Wave, we still get to continue our long and fruitful relationship with our friends at EMI Music Publishing," says Peter Asher, Love's manager and president of Sanctuary Artist Management. "I truly believe that we have now assembled a complete team possessed of unprecedented expertise, determination and skill to do full justice to the genius of Kurt Cobain's musical legacy."
EMI Music Publishing chairman Martin Bandier added, "The continuation of our administration of Kurt Cobain’s songs and the beginning of a new relationship with Larry and his partner is of great significance to EMI Music Publishing, and we are very happy to be in business together."
