CMCC aims to voice opinions on key issues.

A number of Canadian musicians, songwriters and producers have launched the Canadian Music Creators Coalition, with the intent to voice opinions on issues—like the country's copyright laws—other than those from lobbyists for the major labels and publishers.

The coalition includes artists such as Barenaked Ladies, Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, Sum 41, Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), Broken Social Scene and Sloan.

The group has outlined three key principles on its Web site: "suing our fans is destructive and hypocritical," "digital locks are risky and counterproductive" and "cultural policy should support actual canadian artists."
