Sony/ATV, Warner/Chappell, EMI Pub pact on ringtones.

Internet communications company Skype has entered into license agreements with three major publishers to offer master ringtones from the artist roster of the Warner Music Group labels.

Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Warner/Chappell Music and EMI Music Publishing, which entered a broader pact with Skype, have cleared the way for Skype to potentially offer hundreds of thousands of musical works as master ringtones to users in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Poland.

In the coming months, consumers will be able to download master ringtones from WMG artists including Madonna, Depeche Mode, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sean Paul and others to Skype for playback when Skype users receive incoming calls.

"Skype's collaboration with publishing powerhouses EMI, Sony/ATV and Warner/Chappell, and with the collecting society the MCPS-PRS Alliance, gives us the foundation we need to offer great content from today's hottest artists to Skype's fast growing global user base," said Saul Klein, VP of global marketing for Skype.
