Westin Hotels & Resorts has tapped independent music digital retailer eMusic to create and develop a signature music program for its 124 properties around the world.

The program will be incorporated into such guest experiences as the lobby environment and in-room entertainment.

The initiative is part of Westin's new Sensory Welcome program that launches later this year.

The music program will be helmed by eMusic's world music/reggae columnist Richard Gehr. According to a press release, Gehr -- Westin's "eMusicologist" --will help define the global voice of the Westin brand.

Westin guests, meanwhile, will learn of eMusic's subscription-based service that offers 25 free downloads at sign-up.

Westin is owned by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, which also operates such musically-aware hotel brands as W and Sheraton.
