Maroon 5, Lil Jon and Crosby, Stills & Nash were among those honored at BMI's 54th annual Pop Awards ceremony, held last night (May 16) at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

Maroon 5 took song of the year honors for “She Will Be Loved”—written by group members James Valentine, Adam Levine, Mickey Madden, Ryan Dusick and Jesse Carmichael—which scored the most airplay of any song on the most performed list during the Oct. 1, 2004 to Sept. 30, 2005 eligibility period.

Maroon 5 members Levine and Madden shared the songwriter of the year award with Lil Jon. Each placed three songs on the most performed list of 50 top titles. Levine and Madden earned the title for “This Love,” “Sunday Morning” and “She Will Be Loved.”

Lil Jon picked up his third songwriter of the year win for his collaboration with the East Side Boyz, “Lovers and Friends” featuring Usher and Ludacris, Ciara’s “Goodies” featuring Petey Pablo, and “Salt Shaker” by the Ying Yang Twins, which also features the songwriter.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Crosby, Stills & Nash were named this year’s BMI Icons and were honored with a musical tribute—which included Alison Krauss, Maroon 5, Gregg Allman and Gavin DeGraw—at the gala. Crosby, Stills & Nash, whose three-part harmony has endured for more than three decades, join past winners including Paul Simon, James Brown, Brian Wilson, Issac Hayes, Dolly Parton and Carlos Santana.

EMI Music Publishing claimed the BMI publisher of the year award for the second consecutive year with 18 songs on the top 50 list.

Earning two awards each were Gavin DeGraw, Kara DioGuardi, George Pajon, Jr., The Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am, Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes, and Full Force members Paul Anthony, Baby Gerry, B-Fine, Bowlegged Lou, Curt-T-T, and Shy Shy.
