David Santaniello has been named senior VP of strategic marketing and business development for Sony Music Label Group U.S. He reports to Michele Anthony, president and COO of SMLG, and is based in New York. In this newly created position, Santaniello will oversee strategic marketing campaigns on behalf of all SMLG labels.
“Dave has been the architect of a wide range of initiatives that introduce our artists to new audiences, while at the same time bringing real value to our marketing partners,” commented Anthony. "He has a true talent for matching the right artist to the right project, making him the best choice to work with all of our labels and divisions as we continue to develop new and innovative marketing initiatives that will extend the reach of our artists.”
Santaniello most served as senior VP of strategic marketing and sponsorship for Columbia Records, where his responsibilities included oversight of all aspects of strategic marketing plans for 80-100 artist releases per year. He joined Columbia as director of special marketing in April 1991 and climbed the ranks through a succession of posts—senior director of special marketing (1994), VP of special marketing (1997), VP of strategic marketing alliances and sponsorships (2000) and senior VP of strategic marketing and sponsorship (2002).
