Kelvin Wadsworth has spent entire career with company.
Sony BMG Music Entertainment has named Kelvin Wadsworth executive VP and COO, Asia Region. Wadsworth reports to Tim Bowen, COO of Sony BMG, and is based in the company’s regional offices in Hong Kong.
In his new role Wadsworth will oversee Sony BMG Asia, which encompasses nine offices, including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.
“This key appointment recognizes the outstanding work that Kelvin has done in leading our Asian businesses over the past year, and provides him with a clear mandate to continue to develop our operations in the region,” commented Bowen in a statement.
Wadsworth has spent his entire career working for the company now known as Sony BMG. He first joined the company in 1979 as a financial analyst for CBS Records UK. In 1981 he transferred to CBS Records Australia where he served in a variety of capacities, including finance director. After the acquisition of CBS Records by Sony Corporation in 1991, he returned to the UK to be part of Sony Music’s European office.
He moved to Singapore as dinance director to set up Sony Music’s Regional Headquarters in 1993. Two years later, when the regional office was moved to Hong Kong, he assumed the post of VP of finance, and subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility including senior VP of finance, and senior VP and CFO. In July of 2005, following the successful integration of the joint venture’s operations in Asia, Wadsworth was named interim head of Sony BMG Asia, during which time he retained the title of senior VP and CFO for the region.
