Albert Productions, the Sydney-based label home of AC/DC, has tapped Danny Keenan as its GM of A&R, effective May 29.

"We wanted Danny because he's an all-rounder," executive director Fifa Riccobono tells Billboard.biz. "He's been involved closely with bands and managers through his career. He's worked in major record labels and the media, and had some managerial experience himself."

Keenan was most recently an artist relations manager at Warner Music Australia. He also headed indie label Fur Records, which signed and managed punk female trio the Spazzys.

In 1994, he co-founded Sydney-based trade publication "The Music Network." From 2000 to 2002, he served in L.A. as correspondent for TV networks such as Channel [V] Australia.

In his new job, Keenan will report to managing director David Albert and work closely with the company's U.K. A&R manager James Cassidy.

Albert Productions, the recording arm of the 120 year old music publisher J. Albert & Son, is also home to global hit acts Easybeats, Rose Tattoo and John Paul Young.

This year, Albert Productions unveiled plans for international growth, and signed an exclusive license deal with Sony BMG Music Entertainment for Australia and New Zealand. Aside from its three current signings -- Britain's Breed 77 and the Answer, and Melbourne's blues rockers Dallas Crane -- Riccobono expects to expand the roster by another three to five acts in the next few years.

"The basis of most of our signings are those acts who can deliver live and interact with audiences, " she says, "Quite clearly there is another generation of rock acts and rock fans emerging."
