Sire Records is planning a virtual world listening party next week for Regina Spektor's "Begin to Hope," due June 13.

The online party, held in a virtual NYC loft, will be hosted by 3-D online world Second Life. To experience the listening party users must log in and create a free basic membership in Second Life (www.secondlife.com).

Users will then be able to view Spektor's virtual room, where "Begin to Hope" will be played in the background. Second Life currently boasts over 221,000 residents, with an average of 6,000 players online at any given time, according to a Sire release.

This news comes on the heels of the May 15 partnering of Interscope Records and Web community startup Doppelganger to launch a virtual nightclub called the Pussycat Dolls Lounge where visitors navigate the various rooms of the nightclub online, listen to music and interact with other guests via customized digital images of themselves.
