Representatives for the Rolling Stones today (May 24) conceded that the veteran rockers would be forced to postpone 15 European shows on their "Bigger Bang" tour as guitarist Keith Richards recovers from surgery.

The band has pulled a string of dates in Continental Europe, beginning in Barcelona, Spain on May 27, and running through to Zagreb, Croatia on July 5. U.K. dates were not affected.

World tour concert promoters Concert Productions International and The Next Adventure said the tour would now start at the beginning of July, at a yet-to-be announced venue and city. Details will be unveiled in the coming days.

Richards, 62, is currently resting in the United States after undergoing surgery in New Zealand earlier this month. He had an operation to a head injury sustained after a fall in Fiji. A spokesperson says doctors have advised the artist to take a few weeks recuperation.
