EMI Music North America has named William Hein senior VP and GM of Caroline Distribution, EMI's U.S. independent distribution company. Hein will be based in New York and report to EMI Music North America COO Ivan Gavin.
Hein will be responsible for enhancing the marketing and promotion capabilities Caroline offers its labels as well as for pursuing further digital growth, as part of EMI's strategy for expanding Caroline's scope of services.
Hein most recently was president of Rykodisc, which he joined in 2002, and was closely involved in Rykodisc's recent acquisition by Warner Music Group. Before that, he partnered with producer Bob Ezrin on Enigma Digital, which they later sold to Clear Channel Communications. Hein's career also includes being co-founder and co-owner of Restless Records and being a founder of the Alternative Distribution Alliance.
