Model based on fifth generation 30 GB video iPod.

Apple introduced an new version of the iPod U2 Special Edition as a continuation of the partnership between Apple, U2 and Universal Music Group (UMG).

The new U2 model is based on the fifth generation 30 GB video iPod and comes as an upgrade of the first U2 Special Edition 20 GB model. The first U2 iPod release had no video capabilities but included 400 of the band’s songs. It retailed for $350.

The upgrade holds up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 photos or over 75 hours of video and retails for $329. It keeps the all-black stainless steel case, red Click Wheel and custom engraving of U2 band members autographs. It also offer 30 minutes of exclusive U2 video, which users must downloadable from the iTunes Music Store.
