Former Sony Music Nashville president and CEO Allen Butler has been tapped to head new record label Montage Music Nashville and oversee its launch.

Montage is owned by attorney and entrepreneur John Simmons, CEO of Hedgewood International and founder of the law firm Simmons Cooper. Through Hedgewood, Simmons owns other ventures including a steel mill and two minor league baseball teams. Hedgewood will serve as the parent company of Montage Music.

The company has unveiled plans to be a multi-genre record label as well as a publishing and management company. In the works are a distribution deal, artist and staff signings and the acquisition of office space for the company on Music Row.

In March, Butler launched the artist management firm Allen Butler Entertainment and recently signed his second client, country band Little Texas. Butler also manages singer/songwriter Minnie Murphy, the sister of Capitol Records Nashville artist Jamie O'Neal.

Prior to his tenure at Sony Music Nashville, Butler was VP of promotion and artist development at Arista Nashville and, before that, director of sales and promotions at RCA.
