To be presented with Spirit of Life Award Oct. 5.

City of Hope Cancer Center’s Music & Entertainment Industry has named Charles Goldstuck, president and COO of Bertelsmann Music Group (U.S.), its 2006 Spirit of Life honoree. The Spirit of Life Award will be presented to Goldstuck at a black-tie gala scheduled for October 5 at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. The proceeds from the event will go toward City of Hope’s cancer and life-threatening disease research, treatment and education programs.

The Spirit of Life Award, the highest honor bestowed by City of Hope, is presented annually to individuals who have made a notable contribution to their community and profession. The Spirit of Life Award given by the Music & Entertainment Industry fundraising chapter honors those who have fundamentally influenced the direction of the music industry.

“Charles Goldstuck embodies the visionary leadership that is central to the Spirit of Life Award,” John Frankenheimer, partner and co-chairman at Loeb & Loeb LLP, and longtime member of City of Hope’s Music & Entertainment Industry Board, said in a statement. “He has been a tireless supporter of the cancer center’s mission for many years and truly epitomizes City of Hope’s commitment to excellence.”

Founded 30 years ago by a group of key industry executives, the Music & Entertainment Industry chapter of City of Hope has raised over $50 million through benefits, promotions and partnerships to support programs at the cancer and research center. The Music & Entertainment Industry chapter includes all the major music labels.
