Robbie "Rocket" Watts, guitarist for Australian rock act the Cosmic Psychos, died in Melbourne on Saturday morning (July 1), aged 47. The cause of death was not immediately known.

Watts had just played a gig with the band in Bendigo, regional Victoria, and was found dead in a friend's kitchen a few hours later. The band was on tour in support of their 2006 release "Off Ya Cruet" (Timberyard Records).

Watts joined the Cosmic Psychos in 1990 for the Butch Vig-produced album "Blokes You Can Trust." He also performed with such local acts Quivering Quinns and I Spit On Your Gravy, among others.

He is remembered as a reserved man who let his guitar speak for him. He was also an accomplished banjo player and was often spotted busking around Melbourne. He is survived by four teenage children Rani, Billy, Dan and Lily.

A memorial is being planned.
