International wireless carrier T-Mobile International is to launch on Wednesday (July 19) a separate mobile TV channel dedicated to Robbie Williams' current 29-show European tour, Billboard.biz has learned.
The "Tour TV" channel will be available via T-Mobile's t-zone mobile portal. It will feature exclusive behind-the-scenes and on-stage footage of the "Close Encounters Tour 2006," which kicked off June 21.
T-Mobile is the tour's head sponsor in a partnership that involves handset maker Sony Ericsson, and is part of a ground-breaking Europe-wide deal involving Williams' label EMI Music.
"Tour TV" pricing varies for each T-Mobile market, which includes the United Kingdom, Germany, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia. For an average €7.50 ($9.48) monthly subscription, users have unlimited access to mobile TV content from the tour. Alternatively, users can pay €2.00 ($2.53) per day.
The service will also offer video footage of fans taking part in T-Mobile's Supernatural Carnival on-site marketing activities at the concert venues. For this, T-Mobile has set up on-the-ground events that simulate the atmosphere of traditional amusement carnivals, where fans can participate in games and win Robbie Williams downloads, souvenirs and merchandise.
T-Mobile's "Tour TV" package also includes the chance to watch streamed transmissions of live performances, for users in the local markets only. The featured concerts are will take place in Budapest, Hungary on July 19; in Berlin on July 27; in Vienna on Aug. 18 and in the English city of Milton Keynes on Sept. 19.
