U.K. video distro extends international digital strategy.

Eagle Vision, the London-based independent music DVD and program distributor, is extending its international new media ambitions with an agreement with CinemaNow Inc., the U.S.-based Internet-distributed video download service.

Eagle Vision’s ‘Burn To DVD’ service will now be available to subscribers of CinemaNow in the United States.

They will be able to download to play or keep DVD performances by jazz songstress Diana Krall, country icon Willie Nelson, rock legends Yes and The Doors, plus rock chart-toppers Marilyn Manson and Metallica.

CinemaNow customers can download copy-protected DVDs, plus extra features such as the artwork, menus and commentaries, via their home computers to play on Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Media Player.

Alternatively, they can burn one copy of the file to a blank DVD to play as many times as they want on their PC or DVD players.

The move into the US market follows a similar agreement with BT Vision, a unit of U.K. telecoms giant British Telecommunications, which is launching its IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) platform this fall to distribute on-demand programming via traditional copper telephone lines.

Eagle Vision’s Burn to DVD is also available in France via i-Concerts, a new video-on-demand service that was unveiled in June by French telecoms group Free.
