MTV will hold its annual Latin American music awards show in Mexico City this year, marking the first time the event has come to the region.

Los Premios MTV Latinoamerica will air live from Mexico City's Palacio de los Deportes Arena on Oct. 19 on MTV Latin America and on MTVTr3s, the bi-lingual station launching in the U.S. in the fourth quarter. In the U.S., the show will also later air on MTV and MTV2. No performers have been announced.

Hurricane Wilma forced the cancellation of last year's show, which had been slated for Playa del Carmen, Mexico. In a statement, the network says it chose the country's capital as the venue this year because it has Latin America's largest youth population.
