Due in part to improved digital sales.

Universal Music Group’s second quarter revenues increased 2.2% to €1,077 million (1.35 billion) on improved digital sales and higher license income in the U.S. and the U.K. On a constant currency basis UMG's revenues grew 0.7%.

Digital sales for the three months ended June 30 totalled €111 million ($140 million)—a 91% increase year over year. Digital represented 10.3% of UMG’s second quarter revenues.

Best sellers during the quarter included new releases from Rihanna, Keane and Nelly Furtado.

UMG’s sales results were reported as part of a preliminary second quarter financial release from parent company Vivendi.
