Shepherd will also take on the role of GM of Musicbrigade's U.K. operations.

His responsibilities include developing key partnerships throughout Europe for the company, which originated as a streamed music-video service, operates Web sites in 11 European markets, and has now extended its portfolio to include audio-music downloads to both PC and mobile phones.

He was formerly head of strategic partnerships at rival digital-music service provider OD2, a Loudeye Corp. subsidiary that was recently acquired by mobile handset giant Nokia for $60 million.

Shepherd will be based in the newly-opened London office and reports to CEO Johan Englund.
