An established digital-content aggregator for both the Internet and mobile platforms, Soundbuzz has already been offering a Web-based video-download service in other territories such as Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

And with more than 28 million Internet users, according to the Internet and Mobile Assn. of India, the territory is becoming a key market for Soundbuzz.

Soundbuzz India country manager Mandar Thakur said that video-service in India began a month ago as a test launch but is now fully operational offering music videos from about 130 labels who are members of trade body the Indian Music Industry.

To start with, the executive declared, the Indian service offers a catalog of "about a thousand videos," which include mostly local content.

"We also offer international videos from Warner and Sony," he added, explaining that agreements with other international labels such as Universal Music are being worked out.

Indian videos are priced at Rupees 20 ($0.40) per download, while international videos sell for Rupees 40 ($0.80).
